WHAT IS THE LOUISIANA AIRPORT PASSPORT PROGRAM?

The Louisiana Airport Passport Program is supported by the Aviation Division of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. The program promotes safety and education by encouraging recreational flight to all of Louisiana’s public-use airports. It also supports general aviation airports, area businesses and tourism. Any licensed pilot, from any state, and their passenger(s) may participate. Pilots and their passenger(s) may earn three different levels (bronze/silver/gold) of recognition awards by flying into airports, attending safety seminars and visiting Louisiana’s aviation attractions.

How to earn badges:

The Louisiana Airport Passport Program requires participants to check-in by flying to or attending a qualifying airport or other activities. Awards will be offered for those who collect a certain number of airport check-ins. View official rules of the LA Airport Passport Program here.

Below is a list of the different badge categories explaining how they all work. To see the specific criteria for earning each badge in particular and tracking your progress, refer to the badge progress page within the app.

Note: Participation in the Louisiana Airport Passport Program requires individuals to opt-in. Check-ins to Louisiana airports will not be counted unless the participant has opted into the program. To opt-in, open My Pilot Passport from the Account menu in the AOPA App. Tap on State Programs at the bottom and select Louisiana. Review the program Terms and opt-in to participate in the program.
