Much like Oshkosh is hailed as the Woodstock of aviation, Sun N’ Fun is comparable to Coachella, albeit a lot less fashionable. Thousands land in Lakeland Florida ready to camp out and catch a glimpse of one of the best and most captivating air shows of the year. There’s plenty of things to see, taste, and do during this weeklong affair, but if you’re still not sold, here are some of the best reasons to attend.
- The Airshow: You’ll want to schedule a massage following a week of craning your neck to the sky. Sun N’ Fun’s aerial entertainment boasts some of the world’s best performers including big names like Michael Goulian, Patty Wagstaff, and of course everybody’s favorite—the badass Thunderbirds.
- Foodies Unite: Sure, it’s no Gordon Ramsey meal, but the food you’ll find at Sun N’ Fun is still pretty tasty. There’s a multitude of dining options scattered around the expo so make sure to pack those spandex in your suitcase and Bon Appetit!
- 5K on the Runway: Should you need to burn off all that feasting, Sun N’ Fun will host a 5K on the terminal ramp Saturday April 9th at 7a.m. During the run, attendees will be able to see the launching of more than 20 hot air balloons as the course winds its way down Runway 5/23, Taxiways A, and across the connecting taxiways and ramps to the finish line.
- Join the (Type) Club: Looking for a club for your aircraft type? Visit the type club tent where you can meet with members and get information about joining your own type club.
- Help Wanted: In case you haven’t heard— pilots are in hot demand. If you’re looking for a job in aviation and aerospace, you’ll definitely want to make a stop at Sun N’ Fun’s career fair. Employers from top aviation companies will be on site, so be sure to pencil this one in.
