Steamboat: Our Reason to Fly GA this Winter

If you’re a winter sports fan you may know that January is designated as the official month to learn to ski or snowboard. Although January has come and gone, winter is in full swing in much of the US and it’s not too late to get in on the action.
Witness and experience scenes like this firsthand by electing to fly GA to Steamboat, Colorado.

So next time you’re pondering another $100 hamburger to stay current in these frigid times, perhaps consider that you can fly GA to Steamboat Springs Colorado.

Steamboat is a complete mountain range spanning a vast territory of 2,965 acres. 21 lifts currently help guests access 171 trails to ski, snowboard, ice skate, tour on snowmobiles, take gondola rides, horseback rides, and more. The town of Steamboat offers a reprieve from the sports of the day with cocktail lounges, restaurants, shopping, and an events stage. If the cold proves bothersome you can visit Strawberry Hot Springs, where the natural pools stay between 101° and 105° Fahrenheit.

Being a pilot adds to the already worthwhile experience, making transportation much more efficient than the standard three-hour commute from Denver International Airport. Steamboat Springs/Bob Adams Field (KSBS) is an approximate 20-minute drive from the resort grounds and has an FBO offering vehicle rentals if ride-sharing apps aren’t your speed. If you want to learn how to ski, snowboard, or ice skate this winter, take this as your sign to combine that mission with some GA flying.
