Longtime AOPA partner Sporty’s announced on February 3 its acquisition of another longtime AOPA partner, PilotWorkshops, a provider of online training courses since 2005.
Quality education has always been a big part of Sporty’s mission. The company has been developing and growing its training programs since 1960 starting with a flight school; continuing with an online ground school; and now offering comprehensive online training tools that include integrated real-world flight simulation, webinars, and podcasts.
“Combining forces with PilotWorkshops and their talented team of educators creates natural synergies and sets the stage for incredible new learning opportunities,” Sporty’s said in a press release.
Sporty’s and PilotWorkshops confirm that there will be no changes in the PilotWorkshops team and that its products remain available at the same price and will also be offered on sportys.com. There will be a focus on the VFR and IFR Mastery courses. Both entities will combine resources to develop and deliver the best training materials for all skill levels.
In the press release, Mark Robidoux, the founder of PilotWorkshops, said, “Together, we’ll expand our reach while maintaining the exceptional quality our customers have come to know and expect.” Sporty’s President and CEO John Zimmerman emphasized their shared vision: “This is about building something bigger than the sum of its parts to benefit the entire aviation community.”
