Trescott releases G3000, G5000 book

Follow-on to author's G1000 manual now available for jet pilots

Max Trescott, author of popular books on the Garmin G1000 and GPS/WAAS, recently released a new book dedicated to the Garmin G3000 and G5000. A former flight instructor of the year, Trescott is a recognized expert in the operation of Garmin products, and is a certified Cirrus instructor.

Max Trescott has released “Max Trescott’s G3000 and G5000 Glass Cockpit Handbook” for jet pilots.

The Garmin G3000 and G5000 are fully integrated flight decks found on light and mid-size jets, and each shares a similar operating logic to the G1000 found on light general aviation aircraft. Trescott said one of the challenges in writing the book was incorporating all the manufacturer-specific operations and hardware configurations that make each application unique: “I created icons for different configurations, so readers can easily identify the text descriptions appropriate to their aircraft.”

Through its 312 pages, the book describes the basics of each system, such as setting radios and inputting flight plans, right through programming advanced autopilot operations, datalink, and loading and executing approaches. According to Trescott, the G3000 and G5000 are currently the cockpit platforms for 23 in-production aircraft, with six more in development. The book should have wide appeal for those looking to transition to one of these models, or for current users looking to improve their skills.

Max Trescott’s G3000 and G5000 Glass Cockpit Handbook is available for $44.95 online or by calling 800-247-6553.
