HOW
Flying to an AOPA Fly-In is the most enjoyable way to attend, but you don’t have to bring an airplane to participate. AOPA will provide special flight procedures for pilots, and great parking accommodations for drivers. The Pilot Info Packet, flight procedures, and arrival and departure safety video are published approximately six weeks prior to the start of each fly-in.

Sitting at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range, Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a magical journey any time of year. Not only is it the oldest U.S. capital city, but with an elevation of 7,000 feet, it’s the highest, boasting an average of 300 sunny days per year. Santa Fe is a center for arts and culture and ranks as the country’s third largest art market, with nearly 300 galleries and dealers to explore.

AOPA will land at Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF) for its second 2018 regional fly-in September 14 and 15. The host FBOs will be the Jet Center at Santa Fe and Signature Flight Support. If you haven’t attended an AOPA Fly-In before, you’re in for a great, informative weekend. There’s so much to experience at an AOPA Fly-In. Workshops on Friday (preregistration and tuition fee required) help you become a better pilot with topics ranging from weather forecasting to aviation photography and aircraft maintenance to VFR and IFR skill enhancement. A Barnstormers Party on Friday night features great local barbecue and music from local artists. Saturday morning begins with a pancake breakfast prepared by AOPA staff and local volunteers. Free seminars are presented by aviation experts all day long, there’s an exhibit hall with industry vendors, a display of interesting aircraft, and lunch options for everyone. The day concludes with a Pilot Town Hall and ice cream social with AOPA President Mark Baker.

Santa Fe is a great spot for art lovers and the city’s art district is just 11 miles from the airport. Plan to stay the weekend and enjoy both the fly-in festivities and the local culture.
