Lightspeed Foundation donates headsets

The Lightspeed Aviation Foundation plans to give aviation scholarship recipients and flying organizations headsets to “attract, incent, and reward” those who join the aviation community.

“We want to amplify their work,” said Lightspeed CEO Allan Schrader. “We can give what we’ve got, and what we’ve got is headsets.”

Schrader said the Oregon-based firm will donate headsets collectively valued at $50,000 to AOPA’s You Can Fly program. You Can Fly brings rusty pilots back to active flying, is developing a national high school aviation curriculum, improves flight training, and promotes flight safety.

“The Lightspeed Foundation has really stepped up,” said Carol Dodds, AOPA vice president for advertising. “Rewards and incentives like this are a fine example of the kind of support the industry can provide to grow our community.”

Organizations that grant aviation scholarships of $5,000 or more also can get Lightspeed headsets to award to their winners.

Lightspeed plans to provide its latest Zulu 3 headsets, which were introduced in 2017 and carry a retail price of about $1,000. The headsets have active noise reduction, Bluetooth, and an industry-leading seven-year warranty.

The You Can Fly program and the AOPA Air Safety Institute are entirely funded by charitable donations to the AOPA Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. To be a part of the solution, visit www.aopafoundation.org/donate.
