Jeppesen's partnership with ForeFlight has brought in about 5,000 new subscribers to the Boeing-owned company since it was announced in May—and it's the "tip of the iceberg" for the two companies' future plans, Jeppesen officials said.
Jeppesen's FliteDeck Pro app, which will incorporate ForeFlight's mapping engine, will be released early in 2018.
ForeFlight included the option for subscribers to get Jeppesen terminal procedures on ForeFlight mobile beginning in June. Since then, it's expanded to include Jeppesen's data-driven VFR and IFR en route charts, too.
Jeppesen will begin offering its FliteDeck Pro app with ForeFlight's mapping engine beginning in the first quarter of 2018. Reagan said incorporating ForeFlight with its worldwide charts in a product designed for professional pilots has taken more time. But it's likely to be the starting point for a series of future new products.
More than 1 million pilots around the world use Jeppesen charts. "It's a full worldwide, paperless system," Reagan said.
