The award acknowledges the airport’s work on multiple projects aimed at meeting the needs of New Braunfels, investing in infrastructure, considering the long-term economic impact of the airport, and fostering regional growth. Bolstered by a comprehensive master plan, efforts included a runway rehabilitation project, the extension of a taxiway to facilitate hangar development for larger aircraft, the construction of a detention pond, the installation of perimeter fencing to increase security, site selection and design for a new control tower, and a master drainage plan in preparation for future development, according to a media release.

“A strong airport begins with a clear vision and the people who bring that vision to life every day. This recognition reflects years of thoughtful planning and collaboration and the unwavering dedication of our airport staff and partners,” said Jeff Jewell, New Braunfels economic and community development director.

Future priorities for the airport are the completion of the new control tower and a feasibility study for a new terminal.
