Bravo Golf watches

Just the time, and that’s enough

In our world of smart-everything and AI, sometimes throwback simplicity is what we need most. With Bravo Golf watches, founded by pilot Beau Garrett, you get an analog watch that only tells the time—and really, that’s all it needs to do.

The thin, sleek, simple watch, beside hour and seconds, also has a window for Zulu time and one for the day of the month. The lack of clutter makes the watch easy to read and appropriate for any setting. It has enough style to wear both in flight and out to dinner, and it gives more of a sophisticated spy look rather than the Spy Kid one found so often with gadget-heavy, bulky smartwatches.

The hands and dial are Super-Luminova coated, so on night flights you’ll still be able to read the time. The maker claims it is waterproof to 100 meters, although with a leather band and no smart features it is hard to believe it would ever be used at any depth. However, it doesn’t hurt to know it can withstand a little water.

“It doesn’t scream I’m a pilot—it whispers I’m an aviator.”

Being disconnected is increasingly a status symbol and sign of self-discipline. This watch is perfect if that’s the persona you’re trying to achieve—having fewer distractions in flight is certainly a plus. And even though it is simple, it is unique and eye-catching enough to be a conversation-starter. It doesn’t scream I’m a pilot—it whispers I’m an aviator. The watch is slim and the face small enough to be unisex as well, although those with slimmer wrists may need to make another hole in the band for a perfect fit. There’s an option to engrave the watch with your pilot certificate number that combined with the price ($595) makes this a particularly great gift for yourself or others to celebrate a checkride pass or aviation milestone without completely breaking the bank.
