D-DAY FLIGHT HONORING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY

Commemorative flight over Arlington National Cemetery In Conjunction with Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association 80th Anniversary

FREDERICK, MD – This release is intended to provide planning information for Federal, State, and Local law enforcement agencies and 911 Call Centers who may receive inquiries about this event.

On May 10, 2019 a formation of 7 World War II aircraft will depart Frederick, Maryland, and fly in a formation over the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery to honor our the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Invasion in Normandy, France on June 6, 1944.

This formation of will consist of approximately 6 C-47 “Dakota” transport aircraft and 1 T-6 “Texan.” This formation will depart from the Frederick Municipal Airport (FDK) at approximately 11:30 AM on Friday, May 10th and will travel near Manassas, and Woodbridge, VA, Clinton, MD, Oxon Hill, and then over the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery. The formation will then proceed northwest up the Potomac River toward Fredrick, MD.

This flight has been carefully coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration, the Transportation Security Administration, and the local airport authorities.

Press releases have been prepared and sent to all regional and local media outlets, and active media coverage is expected on the day of the flight. This large formation will be easily seen and heard by observers on the ground. The information provided below will help local law enforcement and 911 Call Centers handle any inquires about this flight.
