This Flight Explorer screen capture shows Steve Fossett in Virgin 101 off the East Coast of the United States. It shows he had a block of altitude reserved from 45,000 to 51,000 feet and that he took off from KTTS, which is the space shuttle runway at Titusville, Florida. His destination is listed as EGMH, Kent International Airport. His type of aircraft is listed as GTWN, and we haven't a clue what that means.

Fossett close to Ireland

Latest reports show Steve Fossett approaching the west coast of Ireland and may be over land by 10:30 EST. Controllers at mission control said, however, the chances of his making Kent International Airport near Manston, England, are 50-50 and suggested a landing at a closer airport, such as Shannon, Ireland, may be necessary. His descent for Manston was to begin over Strumble VOR on the west coast of England, and if he makes it all the way, he would land at Kent International at 12 EST. Follow his flight on the Web.
