Sloping green common areas shaded by oaks dripping with Spanish moss, long hallways lined with classrooms, spacious stairwells replete with stunning views of a glittering downtown ? Jacksonville University is what many would consider the epitome of a small, private liberal arts school. It offers seven bachelor?s degrees in more than 50 programs of study from its consortium of three colleges.
It has intercollegiate sports, Greek societies, and internships ? all the traditional stuff we think of when we imagine a college career at a private university. And, in the College of Business, JU has an aviation management and flight operations degree program. Now, that?s unusual at a school that boasts a classroom ratio of 14:1 and enrolls but a few more than 2,300 students a year.
