AOPA Welcomes Secretary Duffy’s Call for Additional ATC Modernization Funding

WASHINGTON—The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) welcomes Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s call for $30 billion in additional funding to address air traffic control modernization—with $10 billion each for software and communications infrastructure, airports, and control towers.

“AOPA strongly supports Secretary Duffy’s proposal for $30 billion more for modernizing our national airspace,” said AOPA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Advocacy Jim Coon. “While much progress has been made since last year’s $12.5 billion down payment, Monday’s disruptions across the Northeast, along with recent government reports and hearings, underscore the importance of continuing this effort. We join the rest of the aviation industry in urging Congress to provide these additional resources.”
