Garmin announced a remote-mounted carbon monoxide detector compatible with select Garmin avionics, and expanded audio panel functionality now built into the GTR 205/GTR 205x com radio—features that are also available via software retrofit.
The GCO 14 is expected to be available by June 30, with a list price of $549.
Garmin's GTR 205 com radio and audio panel (certified version listed at $2,795, or $2,295 for the GTR 205x for experimental aircraft) adds optional audio panel functions including a four-place intercom, dual radio control capability, and up to 150 seconds of com recording and playback. The VHF radio comes with 10 watts of transmission power standard, upgradable to 16 watts. The GTR 205 radios also connect to Bluetooth sources, allowing music playback with song and artist displayed. The pilot can isolate the audio to focus on radio transmissions while passengers listen to music.
The new audio panel functions are expected to arrive by midyear. New and existing GTR 205 com radios can be upgraded via software download that will be available for purchase from flyGarmin.com, or from Garmin authorized dealers. The audio panel functions are available only with the panel-mounted variants of the GTR 205.
