FAA announces air mobility regulation

The FAA posted a draft of a 10-year special federal aviation regulation designed to enable integration of a new generation of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The final rule spans more than 800 pages, governing pilot training and amending various rules required to integrate electric powered lift aircraft in the national airspace. AOPA joined a coalition of industry groups that made suggestions to improve the original rulemaking proposal in 2023, and is reviewing the proposed final rule.

Bombardier Global 8000 logging test flights

Bombardier announced that the company has begun manufacturing key components for the first Global 8000 production aircraft. Bombardier expects the Global 8000 to have a top speed of Mach 0.94 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles. The company noted in a news release that flight testing is “fully on track.”

Finnoff offers performance upgrade for Pilatus PC–12

Finnoff Aviation Products, a leading specialist in performance products for the Pilatus PC–12, announced its new Elite Performance Package, which includes:

  • A factory-new Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67P engine.
  • An MT-Propeller seven-blade composite propeller.
  • An electrical “bus tie” upgrade.
  • New battery options.

The package improves aircraft performance and is billed as “one comprehensive solution tailored to maximize the potential of your PC-12 aircraft.”
