According to BHA’s press release, Tom Siebel, Craig McCaw, and David Leuschen provided funds for operational support and one CubCrafters kit airplane per year over the next three years to be built by students at BHA. The Carbon Cub EX–2 aircraft kits will be integrated into the academy’s curriculum, and proceeds from the sale of the completed EX–2s will be reinvested in the academy.

BHA also recently began using the AOPA Foundation’s High School Aviation STEM Curriculum as the “backbone” of its in-classroom learning.

“Supporting the Bob Hoover Academy’s mission aligns perfectly with AOPA’s dedication to fostering the next generation of aviators and technicians,” said AOPA President Mark Baker. “The combination of hands-on aircraft construction, comprehensive aviation education, and the remarkable support from industry partners creates an unparalleled opportunity for these students. This initiative not only transforms lives but also strengthens the future of the aviation industry. We are proud to be a part of such a meaningful program.”

Industry partners have also pledged contributions. Cirrus Aircraft committed to providing post-high school “engagement opportunities” with “potential access to real-world experience in the aviation industry and a direct pathway to a career immediately after graduation.” CubCrafters is offering discounted aircraft kits and guaranteed job interviews for program graduates, and Game Composites will offer two-week internships with guaranteed job interviews.

Sean D. Tucker, retired airshow performer and founder of the Bob Hoover Academy, said the combination of hands-on experience building Carbon Cubs, AOPA’s curriculum, and the additional support from industry “will equip Academy students with the skills and confidence to transform their lives.” Tucker added that the donations will ensure sustained growth of the organization: “This gift is truly a game-changer.”
