GA thanks Browns for Hartzell props
AOPA signs open letter
In 1914, the friendship between Orville Wright and Robert Hartzell resulted in the manufacturing of the first Hartzell airplane propeller.
The company was called the Hartzell Walnut Propeller Co., building Liberty aircraft propellers to support U.S. World War I efforts. In 1920, the word "Liberty" was replaced with “Built on Honor,” which has been the company’s guiding principle ever since.
AOPA President Mark Baker joined colleagues from across general aviation signing the following open letter expressing collective gratitude to the Browns, whose decision to sell the company became public in October, and recognizing the pivotal role they played in aviation:
