Cirrus Aircraft to offer private pilot training

Cirrus Aircraft created a comprehensive private pilot training program using SR-series aircraft. The program uses Cirrus-designed ground school training and matches students with a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot through a Cirrus Training Center.

The Cirrus Private Pilot Program includes 11 modules and 40 lessons that include pre-study material, ground instruction lessons, flight instruction videos, performance assessments, and quizzes.

“We have a saying at Cirrus Aircraft, are you a pilot? There’s only two answers to that: yes and not yet. And we’re addressing that not yet part,” said Todd Simmons, Cirrus Aircraft president of customer experience. “We’re putting together a comprehensive program where now, with a Cirrus Aircraft Training Partner, you can get your PPL, your full private pilot license through Cirrus. We’re taking the same materials from the Cirrus Approach and putting all that together into a comprehensive approach. Every part of that curriculum has been reinvented and rethought. All rich media, all materials, all 3D animations, even the [Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge], all those pieces reinvented to be able to learn an easier way, to more seamlessly and efficiently get to that end result of this private pilot license. And that starts your Cirrus life.”

Simmons said Cirrus expects pilots trained through the Cirrus Private Pilot Program will have lower insurance rates on their Cirrus aircraft.
