Garmin announced FAA supplemental type certificate approval to install the GFC 600 digital autopilot in Beechcraft King Air 200 series aircraft.
The GFC 600 brings "solid-state attitude with robust self-monitoring capabilities" to the King Air 200 series, with approval now in place to install the autopilot in the King Air 200, 200C, A200, A200CT, B200, B200C and B200GT models. Garmin expects additional STC approvals for the GFC 600, including the Piper PA–31-350 Chieftan, King Air F90, Cessna 310, and others.
The King Air 200 installation brings many of the same safety and convenience features offered by the GFC 700 autopilot, expanding on the traditional autopilot functions such as altitude hold, vertical speed, and heading modes with altitude preselect, underspeed and overspeed protection, and (when combined with a GTN or GTN Xi series navigation unit) VNAV mode. A level mode button directs the autopilot to restore the aircraft to straight-and-level flight.
The GFC 600 is listed for $23,055, and additional information including current and planned approvals is available on Garmin's website.
