Known for his aviation financial advice series “Adam Answers” in AOPA Pilot magazine, Adam Meredith, president of AOPA Aviation Finance, died December 11 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 52.
Meredith was an aviation enthusiast and passionate pilot. He held a commercial pilot certificate with multiengine and instrument ratings. He joined AOPA in 2013 and over the past 10 years, he and his team helped hundreds of members pay for flight training or buy the aircraft of their dreams. He also represented AOPA as a board member of the National Aircraft Finance Association from 2015 to 2021.
“He had a deep understanding of the business and a real passion for negotiating the best deals for our members,” said AOPA President Mark Baker.
Meredith had more than 22 years of lending, small business management, and customer service experience. He began writing his popular “Adam Answers” columns in 2016 and penned over 80 articles that addressed members’ questions about aircraft financing, upgrading, buying and selling, and ownership.
Colleague Caroline Childs said, “Adam had the unique ability to build genuine and strong relationships with people from every walk of life. Adam would then combine those relationships which would help bring us all together.”
“Adam created a productive working environment where hard work was expected, encouraged, and rewarded, but so was having fun. Adam often said, ‘When you work hard, you play hard’, and that was evident in how he managed our team and how he lived his life. Just one of the many reasons Adam was so enjoyable to be around, and why he will be greatly missed,” Brian Macbean, director of credit and sales and 10-year colleague, said.
Meredith is survived by his wife, Anna; their two sons, Donald and Karl; his father David Meredith; and their extended family.
