Add up your flight hours and get your essay skills in order: Women in Aviation International announced August 14 that its 2024 scholarship program is open. More than $1 million is available for flight training, as well as training for engineering, dispatch, drones, and professional development.
The new cycle of more than 105 offerings includes new scholarships. These include $10,000 available to a student pursuing a degree in aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering or space studies with a passion to work in the space industry and $5,000 for a student currently enrolled in an aviation maintenance technician program or pursuing a degree in aviation maintenance technology. Both are sponsored by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The Hilton Foundation is also sponsoring two $5,000 scholarships for an instrument rating, two $6,000 scholarships for multiengine training, and two $5,000 scholarships for private pilot training. Additionally, Boeing Co. is offering five professional flight training scholarships valued at $20,000 each.
The deadline for applications is October 12. Applications for most scholarships can be submitted online; however, some scholarships require mailed applications.
A scholarship application link is posted on the WAI website, and descriptions of each scholarship are also available online.
