AOPA to partner with Buckeye Air Fair through 2026

AOPA is excited to announce its plan to return to the Buckeye Air Fair in Buckeye, Arizona, February 16 through 18, 2024.

The partnership between the Buckeye Air Fair and AOPA proved to be a perfect match in February, when AOPA collaborated with local organizers of the well-established event for the first time. AOPA’s presence at the event created an environment that allowed the local population to mingle with aviators, learn about aviation, and find out how to become pilots themselves.

“It has been great partnering with the City of Buckeye on this event, we are excited about our newly signed three-year agreement and look forward to watching it grow and flourish! We are also excited to share this new event model with our members,” AOPA Director of Outreach and Events Elizabeth O'Connell said.

“AOPA is a perfect fit for the Buckeye Air Fair because it unites our shared passion for aviation,” Buckeye Mayor Eric Orsborn, an aircraft owner, pilot, and AOPA member, said, “The Buckeye Air Fair aims to spotlight our airport, foster community support, and inspire residents, especially the next generation, about aviation opportunities.”

The event had more than 30,000 spectators over the three-day aviation-fueled weekend and hosted over 1,500 students from six local schools as part of the city’s annual Field Trip Friday, giving students the opportunity to learn about aircraft and careers in aviation.

As in previous years, the Air Fair will provide visitors with hours of aerial entertainment from well-known aerobatic performers and local military, showcase a myriad of local artisan vendors, offer a delicious array of food from local food sellers, display aircraft , and give attendees a chance to meet pilots and airshow performers.

“Visitors can expect an even better experience at Buckeye next year,” said O’Connell. “With one year of this event under our belt we are now able to work out the kinks and improve on the things that were unknowns to us this year.”

“Next year is also our eighty-fifth anniversary, and we are bringing our anniversary to our members,” O’Connell continued. “We look forward to celebrating our anniversary with our members with special members-only parties and gatherings.”

“Buckeye is thrilled to have AOPA returning this next year,” said Orsborn. “The professionalism, safety, industry relationships, and aviation services that AOPA brings to the event will launch an even bigger opportunity next year. We envision a lasting partnership, growing the Buckeye Air Fair into a premier Western U.S. Aviation Expo, fly-in and air show, while celebrating all forms of aviation. Our ultimate goal is to help guide general aviation's growth and cultivate an exceptional local airport right here in Buckeye.”

The AOPA Fly-in at the Buckeye Air Fair continues to work toward AOPA’s goal of bringing AOPA’s resources, aviation expertise, and benefits to members across the county by partnering with established aviation events.

AOPA members interested in flying in should continue to check our event page for more information as details are finalized.
