Piper plucks apprentices from high school

On May 5 students from Vero Beach High School and Sebastian River High School were invited for a tour and exploratory visit of the Piper Aircraft worldwide headquarters. After the tour, Piper conducted interviews with the soon-to-be graduates and then extended job offers to 84 percent of the candidates. In early June, Piper announced that the new hires were “currently in the training process and will join the manufacturing and production control teams in the near future.”

“With the robust nature of the marketplace and demand for both trainer and personal aircraft, Piper’s production for 2022 is sold out, with firm orders into 2024,” Piper said in the press release announcing the new hires. The aviation industry is quickly rebounding after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, with organizations across the industry seeing an increase in shipping and sales. Manufacturers like Piper are not only battling supply chain delays but also worker shortages, and they are eager to expand the workforce.
