On February 15, Piper announced live informational sessions for individuals interested in the company’s 2022 apprenticeship program at Piper headquarters in Vero Beach, Florida. The sessions will take place on March 3 and April 21 at 6 p.m. Eastern time. Sessions are open to prospective apprentices and family members.

“The Piper apprentices are part of a high-tech version of the ancient tradition of apprentices learning a trade requiring specialized skills by working with an experienced professional. This program provides the necessary training, mentoring and support enabling apprentices to successfully pursue a long-term career with growth opportunity as a Piper employee,” said Piper President and CEO Simon Caldecott. “As we look to the future and consider our current aircraft sales and order backlog, the apprentice program will help ensure that Piper has a strong and agile workforce for the years to come.”

Piper announced its apprenticeship program in October 2018 after booking orders to manufacture more than 200 aircraft. Caldecott noted at that time that he considered the on-the-job training initiative a major accomplishment to bolster the company’s workforce.

To qualify for the apprenticeship program, candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, be at least 18 years of age by August 1, be eligible to work in the United States, be able to read, write, and speak English, and pass a variety of Piper-specific hiring requirements. In addition to qualifying for the program, applicants must submit a résumé, a 350- to 500-word essay, a high school transcript, and two letters of recommendation. Only 10 applicants will be accepted.

Candidates can register to attend one of the informational sessions via email.
