Tecnam announces new trainer
A primary, commercial, and instrument trainer in one
Tecnam’s newly certified “P-Mentor” trainer is designed to take flight students through private, commercial, and instrument training in a single, economical aircraft.
The two-seat P-Mentor has a Rotax 912iSc engine, a constant-speed MT propeller, and Garmin G3X avionics. Options include an IFR navigator, BRS airframe parachute, and a handle that simulates retractable landing gear.
The P-Mentor is made in Italy and received its European type certificate on April 7. The company will publicly unveil the airplane at Aero Friedrichshafen in Germany this month.
Tecnam said it has received fleet orders for the P-Mentor but didn’t name the buyers, state its retail price, or say when it will be available in the United States. Tecnam’s United States distribution facility is located in Sebring, Florida.
Tecnam continues to develop aircraft at a brisk pace, and the P-Mentor's name is a slight departure from longstanding Tecnam practice of naming aircraft according a convention based on the last name of company founders and brothers Luigi and Giovanni Pascale, and the year a given aircraft was designed, such as the P2012 Traveler, and the P2010, and the P2008.
