AOPA Aviator Showcase in Fort Worth packed with aircraft, products

Showstopping aircraft, including a sleek Italian piston single making its second U.S. appearance, as well as turbines and ultralights, will be lined up for inspection by registered attendees to the AOPA Aviator Showcase in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 1. We’ve also got more show specials and seminars in store than you can shake a stick at.

More than 50 exhibitors greeted more than 500 attendees at the first AOPA Aviator Showcase in Manassas, Virginia, August 27. A similar turnout is expected in Fort Worth, Texas, for the second AOPA in-person event of 2021. Photo by Chris Rose.

You should not wait until the last minute to purchase tickets for this in-person, one-day event held at Fort Worth Alliance Airport. We will provide the three most popular AOPA additions to any show: seminars, an exhibit hall packed with products (many eligible for show discounts), and an aircraft display.

Among the star attractions we’re expecting, the Blackshape Gabriél will make its second show appearance a few months after its head-turning debut at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Built for performance and packed with technology, the Gabriél is being imported by Ameri Aircraft Sales of Houston.

More familiar airframes from Cirrus Aircraft, Textron Aviation, Aviat Aircraft, and Honda Aircraft Co., makers of the groundbreaking HondaJet, are also expected to line up, along with a JMB Aircraft VL3, billed as the fastest ultralight in the world.

Show specials from 24 vendors will include discounted avionics, insurance, financing, and other aviation products (including AOPA memberships and gear), as well as a drawing to win a free starter courtesy of Hartzell Engine Technologies. One of our staff favorites in the exhibitor lineup is Waypoint Aviation Enterprises, a pilots-only, membership-based lodging network in which participating pilots offer a guest room in their home to fellow pilots, and pay a gratuity of $20 per night when staying with fellow pilots in the network.

We have your learning needs covered, too, with a seminar schedule that begins at 9 a.m. covering eight topics (one every 50 minutes or so) by the time the final seminar ends at 3:30 p.m., including tips for making an aircraft purchase, cost-effective maintenance, and propeller design, plus the latest ForeFlight updates.

In addition to the advance registration requirement, our COVID-19 safety measures include a unique show layout that allows for more social distancing and use of appropriate face attire or barriers as needed—and we’ll be scrubbing and cleaning quite a lot.
