Visit 13 original colonies for July challenge

Test your U.S. history knowledge by checking in to as many of the original 13 colonies as possible during the month of July using the AOPA app's Pilot Passport feature for a chance to be awarded a one-year Pilot Protection Services Plus level membership.

The PPS Plus level membership is valued at $178 and includes enhanced premier benefits with maximum legal and medical coverage for pilots operating under airline transport pilot, commercial, flight instructor, or unmanned aircraft system certificates, or any active pilots looking for the maximum amount of coverage. There will be one grand prize winner.

Pilot Protection Services Legal Services Plan attorneys and medical certification specialists can be instrumental when you are buying or selling an aircraft; need an attorney for tax matters, enforcement actions, or other legal issues; or need a review of your airman medical records prior to submission to the FAA. With average attorney fees ranging from $100 to $400 an hour (or more), PPS Plus level coverage is one of the best values in aviation.

If you need a refresher while celebrating Independence Day with aviation activities, the July "Freedom Thirteen" challenge includes Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Check out AOPA’s rental car and hotel discounts to save money on the go if you’re planning to make your visit to the 13 states a flycation. Aviators and aviation enthusiasts can also listen to more than five hours and 30 minutes of aviation-inspired music along the way with the AOPA Top 100 Flying Songs playlist on Pandora.

See the official rules and if you don’t already have the AOPA app, download it for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
