A leading Chicago-based communications training company has recognized AOPA Senior Manager of Media Relations and Public Affairs Jennifer Non for her reporting on diversity and inclusion in general aviation.
Lawrence Ragan Communications, considered “a leader in training for professionals in corporate communications, public relations, social media and management” for more than 50 years, honored Non with its Top Women in Communications Award in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Champion category.
Non has highlighted women and people from minority backgrounds in aviation and successfully pitched stories to major news networks to highlight these groups as well as AOPA’s efforts to interest youth in aviation.
For example, Non was instrumental in getting ABC News to highlight two high school students who are enrolled in AOPA’s High School Aviation STEM Curriculum. She also worked with CNN Travel International for a story that highlighted how AOPA’s curriculum is reaching more women and people from minority backgrounds.
Non also hosts and produces the weekly podcast Pilot Briefing every Monday to get pilots caught up on the top GA news stories in five minutes or less. The podcast recently reached 500,000 downloads.
Lawrence Ragan Communications honored 102 women in its Top Women in Communications Class of 2021.
