Packed house, heroes welcomed

Our helicopter flight revealed row after row of parked airplanes and crowded grounds at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, while on the ground we saw plenty of smiling faces, both new friends and the more familiar including Brig. Gen. Charles McGee, 101, one of the original Tuskegee Airmen, who received a hero’s welcome and stayed to sign autographs.

EAA AirVenture has long been the dates circled more than most on the aviation calendar, and we found plenty of pent-up enthusiasm bursting out all over Wittman Regional Airport. Take a visual tour around the grounds with a few of our favorite photographs.
