Cirrus creates commemorative edition

Eight aircraft planned

Anticipating the delivery of its 8,000th SR-series airplane in 2021, Cirrus Aircraft created a limited edition of eight aircraft, each designed to stand out.

“Bold, unapologetic, and really bursting out of its boundaries,” was how Cirrus Aircraft Design Director Alex Alequin described the aesthetic vision for the 8000 Limited Edition SR Series in a promotional video posted to amplify the January 28 announcement.

The Volt color scheme created for this limited edition of eight airplanes is built around bright yellowish green (or greenish yellow) covering the wings that is echoed in many of the details—the upholstery stitching and elsewhere. “That is a color that hasn’t been used very much by Cirrus,” Alequin said.

Each aircraft in the limited series will be “delivered along with a curated series of gifts and events for the new owners,” the company added.

Underneath the bold colors, one of the most popular piston singles ever made, a perennial bestseller, retains is sixth-generation features. Cirrus IQ, rolled out for 2020, allows remote access via smartphone to various aircraft systems. The Cirrus Perspective+ flight deck by Garmin is also among the newer features added to a proven mix of safety enhancements including the renowned airframe parachute credited with saving hundreds of lives since the first Cirrus SR20 was delivered in 1999. The model lineup for 2021 remains otherwise unchanged, with the SR20, SR22, and SR22T versions available with variably eye-catching qualities.
