The AOPA You Can Fly program has canceled all in-person Rusty Pilots seminars scheduled through June in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Workshops at the AOPA You Can Fly Academy in Frederick, Maryland, for teachers who teach the AOPA High School Aviation STEM Curriculum in their classrooms are also canceled through June. Virtual-attendance workshops were canceled as well.
“AOPA has been closely monitoring the situation concerning the coronavirus pandemic,” said Donnie Mackay, AOPA Rusty Pilots program manager. “Our biggest concern is the health and safety of our attendees, hosts, and presenters. In an effort to follow the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone concerned to cancel all in-person Rusty Pilots seminars” through June.
AOPA will reassess the seminar schedule. Hosts of canceled events will have the option to reschedule their seminars once the decision is made to resume holding in-person seminars. Individuals who have pre-registered for a Rusty Pilots seminar affected by the change in scheduling will be notified about the cancellation by email.
AOPA’s sixth High School Aviation STEM Symposium remains on schedule for November 16 and 17 at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, Florida.
