AOPA flight training scholarship deadline is March 15

The final deadline to apply for AOPA’s flight training scholarships totaling more than $1 million is quickly approaching.

Applications for the AOPA High School Flight Training Scholarship, AOPA Teacher Flight Training Scholarship, AOPA Primary Flight Training Scholarship, and AOPA Advanced Rating Scholarship must be submitted by March 15 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

AOPA will award 80 High School Flight Training scholarships, worth $10,000 each, to high school students between the ages of 15 and 18, to pursue their primary pilot certificate. Up to 20 $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school teachers to pursue a primary pilot certificate. Scholarships for both categories have been generously funded by donations from the James C. Ray Foundation to the AOPA Foundation.

AOPA also offers Primary Flight Training scholarships for AOPA members who are 16 years old or older. These scholarships range from $2,500 to $7,500 and can be applied to training for a primary pilot certificate.

Advanced Rating scholarships range from $3,000 to $10,000 and can be applied to the instrument rating and the commercial pilot, flight instructor, instrument flight instructor, and multiengine flight instructor certificates.

AOPA awarded 123 total scholarships in 2019.
