Sporty’s virtual airshow takes off

More excitement and education

It’s no secret that the new format for 2020’s aviation events is trending in the virtual direction, and Sporty’s has joined the action. Aware of the void left by the cancellation of so many aviation events this year, Sporty’s is hosting a virtual airshow on its website and other social media platforms.

“AirVenture is our favorite week of the year, where we get to meet thousands of customers, show off the latest products, and see amazing airplanes in action. But while we can’t be together in Wisconsin, we hope we can help recreate some of the Oshkosh atmosphere online,” Sporty’s President Michael Wolf said June 29.

Sporty's has an impressive schedule lined up, and includes webinars such as “ForeFlight—What’s New and Advanced Features,” “iPad Proficiency Check,” “Home Flight Simulators,” and “IFR Quiz Hour,” just to name a few. They’ll also have show specials, contests where you can win prizes (and who doesn’t love winning aviation prizes?), concerts, livestreams, hands-on product demo videos, virtual exhibits, airshows, and fun flying videos.

You’ve heard his voice at major airshows and in Sporty’s videos, so you certainly don’t want to miss the multitalented Rob Reider performing from his home studio during Week 4 of the virtual event, July 20 through 26. You also will want to tune in to hear legendary airshow performer Patty Wagstaff’s narration of one of her amazing routines during Week 2, July 6 through 12.

A longtime partner of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Sporty’s is also encouraging donations to the EAA Aviation Foundation. The Sporty’s Foundation has pledged to match every dollar donated up to $25,000 with 100 percent of donations going to EAA. Sporty’s is suggesting donation amounts equal to what you would’ve paid for your 2020 AirVenture tickets, but you are welcome to donate other amounts, as well.

The virtual airshow is live now, so consider yourself cleared direct Sporty’s.
