ASA teams to highlight aviation maintenance careers

Aviation Supplies and Academics Inc. (ASA) is partnering with ChooseAerospace.org to highlight career opportunities for aviation maintenance professionals.

The book publisher joins air carriers, educational facilities, aviation maintenance organizations, and other aviation stakeholders in an effort to attract young people who can bolster the technical workforce.

In light of the continued shortage of aircraft mechanics, ASA Marketing Director Brian Snider noted the company was committed to helping grow a diverse and qualified technical workforce. He said the effort is part of a unified plan to “increase the workforce and to stir up interest in the fields of aerospace and aviation maintenance.” Snider noted the need for commercial aviation is “just going to continue to grow for the next 20 years,” a sentiment shared by aerospace powerhouses such as Boeing, Airbus, and others.

He predicted the affiliation with the ChooseAerospace.org movement would help the aviation industry rally together and “spread the word” about the need to increase the pool of skilled aviation maintenance technicians.

Snider pointed out that ASA was a longtime Aviation Technical Education Council supporter and routinely participated in the group’s annual conferences. “We’ve been providing AMT training textbooks and FAA testing guides to the maintenance community for years,” said Snider, a helicopter pilot and flight instructor.

Crystal Maguire, the council's executive director, said the organization was “thrilled” to have the Seattle-based aviation publisher on board. “Its representatives have decades of experience in educating future aviators,” she noted in a Feb. 28 news announcement. “We will lean heavily on their expertise as the campaign moves forward.”
