FSANA, a membership organization of flight schools and companies that provide services or products for the flight training industry, has posted an online poll to determine the range of fees designated pilot examiners around the United States are charging. Flight instructors, designated pilot examiners, and anyone who has taken a practical test in the recent past are requested to provide input.

“While FSANA is not engaging this survey in an effort to dictate any pricing, we are working to better understand what pricing exists, if it varies based on certificate or rating, and if it varies regionally throughout the country,” the association said in a news release.

Data will be kept anonymous, and survey results will be shared in upcoming FSANA publications. To participate in the survey, go to the website. The deadline to respond is Feb. 2.

In 2017, FSANA queried flight schools and others on what they considered to be a reasonable wait time for private, instrument, or commercial pilot practical tests in a single- or multiengine aircraft. The majority of respondents said 10 to 14 days was a reasonable length of time, whereas two or three weeks was a reasonable length of time to schedule an initial CFI practical test.
