Delta offers air transport pilot training options

Delta Air Lines has rolled out a new airline transport pilot certification training program (ATP CTP) "to meet a need in the marketplace," according to a news release posted to the carrier's website.

After receiving an FAA go-ahead, the air carrier posted on its website July 22 that it became “the first flight training entity at a major airline in the U.S.” to offer the airline transport pilot program.

The six-day classroom and simulator course is $4,995 and includes multiengine ATP test preparation and proctoring.

Changes to the airline transport pilot program in 2014 “inspired the Delta Aircrew Training Center in Atlanta to create a new Airline Transport Pilot Certification Training Program” to meet a growing need, the website explained.

“While this is not a class to become a new hire pilot at Delta,” wrote Jon Tovani, the carrier’s pilot training director, “it can be used by pilots looking to eventually be hired by any airline.”
