AOPA has released new versions of the AOPA Flight Planner and the AOPA GO mobile application with exciting new features to enhance pilot safety and flight planning.

“The new features in both the AOPA Flight Planner and AOPA GO were designed with simplicity and ease-of-use for pilots in mind,” said Eric Rush, AOPA flight planning team lead. “From the addition of ICAO flight plan support to the new range planning feature, these tools have been built to make it easier and more efficient for pilots to plan their flights.”

The AOPA Flight Planner v 2.2 features a new range tool and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) flight plan support. The range tool can help users quickly visualize how far they can go from any point on the chart with sufficient fuel reserve to be safe. Users can customize their view to display distance, fuel, or time with color coding for easy risk identification. Used together with the fuel-along-route overlay, the range tool becomes a powerful preflight planning tool.

Also available in this version is support for filing flight plans under the ICAO format. AOPA built a wizard to walk users through the necessary information to create and file an ICAO flight plan for ease of use.

AOPA GO version 1.1.0 also now supports the ICAO flight plan format and ICAO aircraft profiles. In addition, several ease-of-use functions have been added, including device rotation for iPhones, pull to refresh on the route list, and improved handling of stored routes while offline.

AOPA GO version 1.1.0 is now available from the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
