AOPA requests proposals for future fly-in locations

With the vision to bring future AOPA Regional Fly-Ins to new locations all over the United States, AOPA is inviting airports, cities, and aviation communities to submit proposals to host an AOPA Fly-In in coming years. A request for proposals has been released that seeks to draw interest and information from potential communities that would like to host an AOPA Fly-In at their airport in 2016, 2017, or 2018. The request for proposals includes minimum space criteria, infrastructure requirements, and other important information.

For the first time ever, AOPA held fly-ins in 2014 at some of the country’s best GA airports. More than 16,000 members, guests, and aviation enthusiasts gathered in seven locations throughout the United States for a weekend of celebrating aviation and building relationships.  But there are hundreds of other airports and communities like the first ones we visited! We are looking for enthusiastic, creative, flexible, and collaborative groups to work with in order to put on more fly-ins that allow us to go places AOPA has never been and meet members where they love to fly.

Last year, from attendees to exhibitors, from airport management to local municipalities, the verdict was clear: The AOPA Fly-Ins were a huge success. Four all new locations and our AOPA Homecoming event in Frederick, Maryland, in 2015 promise another year of engaging events and activities celebrating all things aviation.
