The world premiere of a documentary film on legendary airshow pilot Bob Hoover, “Flying the Feathered Edge,” will be Aug. 10 at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. The film was previewed to a private audience at EAA AirVenture.
The film allows the 92-year-old Hoover to tell his own story, along with some of the best and brightest minds in aviation. It begins with a tribute to Hoovers’s flying skills by the late astronaut Neil Armstrong, and features interviews with actor and pilot Harrison Ford, aircraft designers Dick and Burt Rutan, automotive design legend Carroll Shelby, astronaut Gene Cernan, Medal of Honor recipient Bud Day (USAF Ret.), jet charter pioneer Clay Lacy, and aerobatic pilot Sean D. Tucker.
The 82-minute documentary will be shown at other events, including the Breckenridge Film Festival, Sept. 18 through 21, and the Napa Valley Film Festival, Nov. 12 through 16.
The film was produced and directed by Kim Furst, an award-winning documentary producer, director, and editor. Past projects as film editor include Discovery Channel’s three-part series “Rocket Challenge,” “Wings Over the Rockies” starring Harrison Ford, and the general aviation classic “One Six Right.”
