Cessna's Meyer honored by U.S. Chamber

Former Cessna Aircraft Chairman Russ Meyer was honored at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce aviation event during an award ceremony presided over by AOPA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Melissa Rudinger.

Meyer received the Carol B. Hallett Award April 12 at the eleventh annual aviation summit, “Flying Towards Global Economic Growth,” hosted by the Chamber and the National Chamber Foundation in Washington, D.C.

The forum, of which AOPA is a sponsor, brings together top experts and leaders from all sectors of aviation to exchange ideas on the critical issues facing the industry. Themes for 2012 included creating and sustaining employment through new and improved technologies, and the implementation of NextGen modernization programs.

Presenting Meyer with his award, Rudinger noted that the Cessna chairman emeritus had been active in aviation for more than 40 years as a military pilot, industry leader, and executive who helped bring about the revitalization of the general aviation sector.

Hallett, for whom the award is named, is counselor to the U.S. Chamber, a pilot, and is considered a leading expert on trade, transportation, and homeland security.
