FAA finalizes cross-border airways

The FAA has finalized a plan to extend Victor airways across the Mexican border from California and Arizona, easing access for general aviation.

AOPA supported the extension of Victor 135 from the Bard, Ariz., VOR to Mexicali, Mexico, along with the extension of Victor 137 from the VOR in Imperial, Calif., to Mexicali. The extensions will be effective May 31, along with new fixes at the border crossings that will simplify reporting by pilots and coordination of cross-border flights by air traffic control.

AOPA offers members a wealth of information about travel to Mexico, along with briefings and information about other international flights. Mexican aviation officials recently extended until 2013 the deadline to install 406 MHz ELTs, the latest in a series of extensions that AOPA has helped negotiate.
