GUS Grissom Air Reserve Base
Kokomo/Peru, Indiana

The former U.S. Air Force Base in north central Indiana is now open to general aviation and if you love warbirds, this is the place to be September 18. More than 25 legendary aircraft from World War II through the Gulf War are on display at the air museum.


LZU Gwinnett County Airport/Briscoe Field
Lawrenceville, Georgia

Fly in a genuine 1929 Ford Tri-Motor September 16 through 19 at Gwinnett County Airport outside of Atlanta in one of several events planned throughout the country. EAA’s immaculate 1929 Tri-Motor is on tour at various locations this year, offering rides for $50.


TRL Terrell Municipal Airport
Terrell, Texas

The “Flights of Our Fathers” fly-in on September 18 will honor the World War II British pilots who trained at Terrell Municipal and the American officers and civilian staff who assisted with that training. The British Flight Training School Museum is open on the field.


GBG Galesburg Municipal Airport
Galesburg, Illinois

The thirty-ninth annual National Stearman Fly-In takes place September 6 through 11. Programs include Stearman history, technical seminars, flying contests, awards banquet, and a Sunday morning airport breakfast.


LGB Long Beach/Daugherty Field
Long Beach, California

Make plans for Airportfest, one of the largest displays of assembled aircraft during an aviation convention, which takes place during AOPA Aviation Summit 2010 to be held in Long Beach November 11 through 13. In honor of Veteran’s Day, military aircraft will also be on display.
