Conn. pulls about-face, seeks to repeal sales tax exemption

Less than one year after Connecticut legislators granted a sales tax exemption on the purchase of aircraft parts and services, they are working to repeal it. Senate Bill 1385 ( download) proposes to remove the exemption from parts and services for aviation-related products, in addition to all other sales tax exemptions except for groceries, prescription drugs, clothing, and the like. "We've urged the legislature to keep the exemption for aircraft parts and services because it brings aviation business to the state," said Greg Pecoraro, AOPA vice president of regional affairs. "Without this exemption, the pilots and aircraft owners will go to nearby states that offer these incentives."
