The FAA has granted AOPA's request to extend the comment period regarding an aeronautical study for the proposed changes to the Condor military operations areas in western Maine. Airspace users can now provide input up until July 15. The original deadline was May 3, and AOPA didn't think it provided enough time for all users to properly analyze the proposal. Through meetings with key military and FAA officials, AOPA learned additional information about military training route usage and other training requirements, necessitating the extension. AOPA had already been granted a comment extension to July 15 for the environmental assessment and thought the date should match up with the deadline for the aeronautical study. The Maine Department of Transportation had also requested the extension.
