The Hangout - an AOPA Fly-In

What to expect

Join us as we return to our roots, providing a unique, casual environment to hangout with like-minded pilots, enjoy some entertainment, food and camaraderie.

The spot to be is the 39 Lounge where guests can grab some food and beverage from a Food Truck, engage in lawn games, meet Influencers and AOPA Staff, listen to some live music and watch some STOL demonstrations from the flight line.

This is a two-day event that you will not want to miss! Admission is $20 per person for both days, those under 17 years old are free. The Hangouts are open to everyone that has a love and respect for all that is General Aviation!

Entertainment

Music + Food + Fun = 39 Lounge

The 39 Lounge will be our hub for entertainment. Located close to the flight line, you will be able to leisurely hang out under a tent to grab food and beverages from a food truck. Meet and mingle with AOPA Staff and some of the top aviation influencers. This is going to be prime viewing area for our aerial entertainment, which is set to include STOL Demonstrations by Jimmy Gist, Warbirds and first class aerial acts.

In the evening, the 39 Lounge will convert itself into a music venue with bands, beverages and copious amounts of Pilot Talk. Catch Nick Hoffman, Country Musician and Host of Outdoor Channel’s, “Nick’s Wild Ride” as he performs, as well as other acts.

We will also be hosting some Fireside Chats and a “Fly-in Movie” being featured each night.

The Historic Flight Foundation is hosting a Big Band Dinner Dance Friday September 9th from 5:30pm-10:00pm. Join the Historic Flight Foundation for fine food, big band music and a Bob Hope Impersonator in a tribute to the USO. Click here for tickets

Be in the know, with seminars hosted by the AOPA Air Safety Institute, to get all the tools you need to be the best and safest pilot. Feeling a little rusty, or a lot rusty? No worries, we will be hosting a Rusty Pilots Seminar on Saturday morning. If you are one of the more than 500,000 pilots who have stopped flying for one reason or another, or just needs a solid refresher, getting back to flying is easier than you think. Register to attend and find out what it takes to get back in the air, or pick up tips on the latest tools to make you a better equipped pilot.

Camping

We encourage you to come spend the weekend with us and pitch a tent under the wing of your airplane. AOPA has expanded our camping area to include camping hospitality. Our hospitality area will have everything from charging stations, to ice, water, snacks, and coffee. The Camper Hospitality Tent will be set up for you to get out of the sun and enjoy some food with other campers. You can spend the evening sitting around the fire pits or catch a movie at our fly in movie theater set up in the camping area.

Please note: this is primitive camping, however we will supply our campers with restrooms, a shower trailer and hand washing stations.

*Do you want to camp, but do not want to haul all your equipment with you? AOPA has partnered with Kit Lender to supply all your camping gear for the weekend. You can pick it up onsite as well as ship it back onsite after the show. Please click below for more information.

Car Rentals

Attendees wishing to reserve a rental car from Enterprise can do so by contacting the local Enterprise location at 7202 E Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99212 by calling 866-315-9155 and enter “*” to go direct to the local branch; ask to speak with Misha.  Misha is also available via email at [email protected]

            Car Pick up

    • Rental cars can be picked up at the local Enterprise location at 7202 E Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99212
    • A shuttle van will operate at the top of the hour to that location during the following times: Friday 11 am – 4 pm and Saturday 9 am – 1 pm
    • Contact the local office at the phone number above to reserve your seat on the shuttle bus

Car Drop off

  •  Cars can be dropped off anytime at Enterprise at 7202 E. Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99212
  • If needed, AOPA members can arrange to drop off vehicles at Felts Field rather than returning them to Sprague Ave office by contacting the local office and notifying them of your request to return the car to Felts Field and be charged for a 2 day rentall

    • Enterprise is open Friday 7:30 am – 5 pm and Saturday 7:30 am – 2 pm

 

 

Volunteer

Get a behind-the-scenes look at how AOPA puts on our events by working side-by-side with our team as a volunteer! Join other pilots and aviation enthusiasts serving in either airside or show-side roles: marshalling and parking aircraft, greeting attendees, helping with event set-up or clean-up, and assisting exhibitors. We wouldn’t be able to pull off these events without your help, and we’ll be sure to reward you for your help!

From the moment the show opens at 12pm on Friday, we have a jammed-packed schedule full of non-stop aviation fun. From seminars about safety and backcountry flying to STOL demo's and warbird fly-overs and much more, you will always have something to do! After the fun of the day, start your evening off with Happy Hour in our 39 Lounge and go straight into meet and greets, fireside chats with your favorites in aviation and end your evening with the camper after party and outdoor movie on the flight line.

For 75 years, we’ve prepared missionary aviators with aircraft maintenance and flight certifications, a solid Biblical education, and cross-cultural skills to serve around the world. You will see simulators, classrooms set up for virtual learning, and hands-on engine and aircraft labs where we provide aviation training with a bush-flying emphasis.

Tour registration is required at Moody Aviation tour and group size is limited. Tours will be held Friday at 1pm and 3pm and Saturday at 10am and 1pm. Tours will depart promptly from Moody’s aircraft on the static display ramp.
