As the FAA’s plan to identify unleaded avgas replacement fuels moves closer to its 2018 goal, pilots are becoming increasingly interested in what a switch in fuel could mean for them. AOPA, along with several advocacy groups, general aviation industry representatives, petroleum companies, the FAA, and other government agencies, are working collectively through the Piston Aviation Fuels Initiative (PAFI) to identify, evaluate, and eventually certify the most promising replacements.
