It’s back to school time again! Some people seem to remember everything without writing a single thing down. For most of us, taking notes is extremely important in school, when learning how to fly, and even in the workplace!
Taking notes helps you commit information to your memory more accurately. Here are seven tips for effective notetaking.
- Read over your notes at night before bed the same day you wrote them, as you are more likely to remember that information.
- Using your favorite writing utensils can make the experience more enjoyable. You can even use colorful pens and highlighters.
- Always write down acronyms, words, concepts, and information that is new to you. You can always look up more about it later if needed.
- If possible, take your time and make it neat so you can easily read your notes later.
- Keep things brief by using bullet points, symbols, and abbreviations.
- Swap notes with your classmates to see if you missed anything important.
- Always draw whatever the teacher draws on the board, especially if you’re a visual learner!
Taking notes is extremely important when you learn something new. It’s difficult to remember details without referring to notes. Taking notes is proven to improve one’s retention of information. It can even help people process information in a way that leads to a deeper understanding of the subject. Putting time into taking notes and utilizing them makes you more likely to be successful in flying, school, and your job!
