Reimagined in America: Junkers A50 Junior

The Junkers A50 Junior has landed stateside—handcrafted in Battle Creek, Michigan, and ready to deliver pure, open-cockpit adventure. Built for pilots who crave vintage elegance with modern performance, this reimagined 1929 light-sport aircraft blends timeless design with today’s most refined flying technology. Assembled for the first time in the U.S. based on Hugo Junkers’ iconic vision, the Junkers A50 Junior now takes shape as well as flight stateside.

What does it feel like to fly history with the power of modern engineering beneath your fingertips? The Junkers (pronounced “yoonkers”) A50 Junior was born from that question. And now, for the first time ever, it’s been handcrafted on U.S. soil.

Inspired by Hugo Junkers’ 1929 original, the A50 Junior delivers more than nostalgia. It’s an exhilarating, open-cockpit experience that puts the pilot in full command; no screens between you and the sky, unless you want them. The style of the frame, streamlined fuselage composed of corrugated duralumin, remains true to the iconic look.

Whether you're a collector, a weekend flyer, or a precision pilot craving a throwback thrill, this aircraft delivers an immersive flying experience that feels both fearless and refined.

Why bring this German icon to America? Because pilots here deserve the option to own, fly, and touch something rare, without waiting for it to ship from overseas. Our new 45,000-square-foot facility, nestled beside our sibling brand Waco in Battle Creek, Michigan, marks the start of a new legacy for Junkers in the United States.

We didn't just bring production stateside, we elevated it. Over 2,500 hours of craftsmanship go into every A50 Junior, featuring 10,000 hand-applied rivets, more than 1,000 custom components, and meticulous detailing of wood, leather, aluminum, and even a ballistic parachute. From the mahogany wing step to the whisper-quiet Rotax 912iS engine and Garmin-equipped panel, this aircraft merges timeless aesthetics with today’s most advanced light-sport performance. Much of the redesign work took place in Germany during the 2022 revival of production, ensuring both authenticity and modernization.

The A50 Junior isn’t for every pilot. It’s for the aviator who wants to feel every moment of flight, from the vibration of vintage-style controls and the wind wrapping the canopy to the responsive, agile handling tuned for spirited cross-country hops and show-stopping ramp appeal.

While the availability of these handcrafted masterpieces is limited, the customization options of instruments and decorative elements are extensive.

With the A50 Junior model now available stateside, discerning pilots no longer need to look overseas for high-quality, vintage-inspired craftsmanship.

Junkers Aircraft has always honored the past. Now, we’re building its future right here in the United States.
