Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi described it as a “wretched hive of scum and villainy.” In a Bozeman, Montana, hangar “space enthusiast” (his words and an understatement) Jared Isaacman—the first commercial astronaut—has constructed a replica of the cantina from his favorite movies. From the entryway, which appears like the opening crawl of the movies, to the dimly lit cantina, Darth Vader’s mask to a quiver of lightsabers and the Bith musicians playing the Kloo horns, Isaacman’s homage to the Star Wars empire is a kick. Everything was custom made for the hangar. Isaacman said he “contracted with some folks from Disney who had worked on previous Star Wars projects.” And it overlooks Isaacman’s massive hangar that houses his seven fighter jets. And how to let light into the shadowy cantina and view the aircraft in the hangar? With the flick of a lightsaber, of course.
